Translators and Editors
Nadege Asongaze is a trained teacher and freelance interpreter and translator. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English and French from the University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. Her four years of specialization in these two languages has given her a good understanding and mastery of functionalities of both Languages. Nadege also holds a Master’s Degree in Education. She is a certified teacher of English Language and currently teaches English as an Additional Language at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers. She has also tutored French. When she is not teaching or tutoring, Nadege puts her talent and passion for these two languages into good use at The United Cultures of Canada Association as an interpreter and a translator.
Alphonsine is a Rwandese born in Congo (RDC) where her parents lived as refugees from 1959. In this part of Eastern Congo, Swahili is a common language as it is for the neighboring countries (Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania). She moved to Kinshasa in 1985 where Lingala is a common and one of the four national Languages. The family was back home in Rwanda in 1995 where she worked for private and government organizations and also as a self-employed individual. She travelled to Cameroon for studies, Belgium for Training, and many other African countries for work. With these opportunities, she came to speak, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Lingala, Kirundi, French and English. She obtained her Master’s degree in Territory, Environment and Development from the University of Tchang in Cameroon in 2008, and Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architect from the Academies des beaux Arts RDC Kinshasa in 1996. In 2013, she immigrated to Canada with her family.
Doaa Elseify, an Egyptian-Canadian translator and interpreter, received her master’s degree with excellence in French Linguistics in 2004, from University of Ain Shams in Cairo, and her bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the Faculty of Al-Alsun, French department, Cairo, Egypt. Her studies were focused on translation, which provided her an opportunity to deeply study grammar in both French and Arabic Languages. A member of proz.com, Doaa has been working as a translator for over 14 years. She has expertise in translating in a wide variety of settings, including educational, financial, industrial, oil & gas, technical and legal. Doaa has travelled and lived in Egypt, the United Arab of Emirates, Norway and Canada, which has given her substantial knowledge of the Middle Eastern, European and North American cultures. Beside her translation work, Doaa offers her valuable interpreting skills to serve Arabic-speaking communities in Edmonton as a community interpreter with the United Cultures of Canada Association.
